Are you interested in joining our family of vendors at Nifty Gifty Norfolk?


I am very VERY excited about our newer venture that we have embarked on October 2016 and I'm hoping you will be so excited too that you will join me!!!!  

         

If you don't know me, my name is Robin Reitz, the owner of Ritzy Cakes & Eatery in Waterford.  I love Waterford, and my vision for Alice Street is that it needs more retail options. I really believe that it could be a little "Paris or St. Jacobs" with some effort.     


We have opened a gift & home decor store featuring mostly NORFOLK made items by folks like yourself. Shop Local, Buy Local is HUGE in Norfolk County and surrounding areas!!! And I believe that there are MANY talented home crafters and small businesses that might not have the exposure that they need and want for their product. Craft shows and Christmas Bizarres may not be enough for your business. That is where I want to help. We are offering space for your product in our ground floor store front on Alice Street directly across the street from Ritzy Cakes & Eatery. Ritzy Cakes is extremely busy 7 days per week and we believe that traffic coming to Ritzy Cakes would definitely cross the street to go shopping before or after their breakfast, lunch or afternoon snack. We have already been seeing it in the short time we have been open already.



For an inexpensive monthly rental fee + a small commission, we will do all the staffing of the store, the advertising, stocking your product, maintaining a website, POS transactions, an inventory control system, insurance, heat, hydro, security cameras, phone, Internet etc etc. The expenses add up to approx $4000-4500/month depending on the amount of advertising we do. So the rental fees pay for these expenses and the commission is for us doing it. All you have to do, is do what you do best.....your craft!! Box up your product, drop it off to our store, we will display it throughout the space. You will be paid once per month, at the end of the month, with a report every Monday, of what's been sold the previous week. Should your products be "flying off the shelves" you will get a phone call or email so that you can bring us more!!!  We do all the "expensive" work for you, but you get space for a reasonable amount to have your products available 7 days per week instead of occasionally!!



Here's the details that you need to make a decision best for you and your business!!


Commission

10%

Commission is 10% of your sales. For every $10 we sell for you, we keep $1.


Rent

$90-$125/month.


 Why rent and not just a higher commission?? Well because there are expenses to pay every single day regardless if something sells or not. We feel that "everyone" involved should be sharing in those daily expenses. Otherwise, we are the ones taking the huge risk if enough is going to sell in a month to pay those bills. We should "all" be sharing that risk as business partners, if that makes sense.


Someone with small items like jewellery is $90/month because those items takes up a much smaller space than someone with large woodworking or furniture items which is $125/month. The average price we are finding most vendors fall into is $100/month. Our space rental agreements are for a minimum of a 3 month commitment. After the 3 months, it becomes month-to-month.


If at ANY point after the 3 months you want to leave, no problem at all......all we ask for is a

minimum of 30 days notice prior to doing so.  


A craft show booth can run you $20-$50 per event for 4-6 hours (generally) of exposure, plus you sitting there the whole time. Some bigger events can run $250 for the weekend. Our store gets you exposure 7 days per week!! Not just a day or weekend. For the small monthly amount, your product is at an arms length reach to LOTS of people all the time!!!


Our goal is to have multiple themed areas throughout the store, for example, an all year round Christmas, fall/Thanksgiving/Halloween, Nautical items, men's cave, kids and baby items, garden decor etc etc. Your items will be displayed throughout the store amongst these areas, so that the customers have to take their time to look around.


We softly opened on Wednesday October 12th just in time Pumpkinfest traffic. We wanted that amount of traffic to know that we are here now......just in time for the Christmas shopping season and beyond!! November 12th was our Grand Opening event tied together with Ritzy Cakes 5 year anniversary, maximizing the traffic!! Monday Nov 21st was our 4th annual Christmas Shopping night in Waterford, last year 400 people came downtown through the stores for the evening and this year was 250 people. We like to do events throughout the year to bring traffic in and 2017 will be no different.


The Christmas season was a HUGE success as in the first 10 weeks of business we hit $30k in sales. That was a great milestone for 10 weeks in one sense, but in another, we had to start charging HST as per the gov't. No one likes to pay tax but sales were awesome!

Will sales be like that every 10 weeks? Certainly not. But we believe, that we laid down a great foundation in the late fall and Christmas Season  that will carry through into any off seasons. There is always gift giving reasons!! Birthdays, anniversaries, Mother's Day, etc, etc. And people are always looking to re-decorate.
